Park's BBQ (박대감) in Koreatown LA — Premium Meat, but the Banchan Steals the Show
June 18, 2026 | Jenny Yoon
For a wonderful meal with family on a special day, this is the place I’d recommend.
It’s Park’s BBQ in Koreatown. It’s one of my two favorite upscale Korean restaurants in LA.
The meat is excellent, of course — but the banchan is what keeps me coming back. Let me tell you why.
At a glance
- 🍽️ Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- 🪑 Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- 💵 Price: ⭐⭐⭐ (Premium)
- 🤝 Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- In one line: For a special day when you want meat and banchan done right. A bit pricey for a casual bite.
When you want to be properly treated in Koreatown
Park’s BBQ sits on Vermont Ave in Koreatown. It opened in 2003 and has earned a spot in the Michelin Guide — a true neighborhood institution.
Inside it’s sleek and calm, lovely for a family meal on a special day. I think of it for anniversaries, or when treasured guests are in town.
The meat is a given — but the real star is the banchan
Park’s uses USDA Prime beef, so the quality is a given. But there’s a special reason I love this place: the banchan. The widest variety, and every single one is delicious — not filler dishes, you can taste the work in each one.
What my family always orders: saeng-galbi and anchangsal
The menu is long, but my family always orders the saeng-galbi (fresh, unmarinated short rib) and the anchangsal (skirt steak).
The saeng-galbi shows off the meat’s own flavor without marinade, and the anchangsal has a wonderful rich, savory taste.
Honestly, whatever you order, you’ll be happy. The skilled staff grill it just right, so there’s no stress.
Not just meat — ssam, mushrooms, stew, naengmyeon
Park’s charm doesn’t stop at the meat. Fresh ssam greens, grilled mushrooms, spicy gochujang stew, and cold naengmyeon — it’s all so good, you can’t bear to skip a thing.
Lunch specials — and the best galbitang in LA
If you go at lunch, the lunch specials are a great value. And the galbitang — this one I can confidently call the best in LA.
One of the two best tteokbokki in LA
And if you’re lucky, among all those banchan, tteokbokki appears.
To me, it’s one of the two best tteokbokki in LA. That a Korean BBQ house serves tteokbokki this good says everything about how seriously Park’s takes its food.
What I loved, and what's worth knowing
What I loved: the meat quality, the generous and delicious banchan, and the easy, gracious service.
That said, it isn’t cheap. There’s so much you want to try that the bill climbs quickly. So I go on a special day, with people I love.
A few things worth knowing before you go
- Reserve ahead. It’s popular and fills up at mealtimes.
- Use the valet for easy parking (lots and street parking exist too).
- Better with a group. Saeng-galbi and anchangsal plus stew and naengmyeon to share covers a lot of ground.
- Tteokbokki is luck of the draw. Banchan changes by the day; if it appears, count yourself lucky.
